I actually dont get the "they deserve it" thing. Dont get me wrong, I'm glad they won and happy for the region, but media acting like the team has come up short for years is a joke. They sucked for years because idiots like Ditka would trade away entire drafts for a player like Ricky Williams.

I think the New Orleans region NEEDED the win more than anything else. NO didnt become legit until Payton was hired as HC and he recruited Brees.

Lets say the Texas Rangers win the WS this season. It's not like they put forth much of an effort to even get there from about 2000-2009. They just went through the motions.

Fuck... that Garcon drop in the 1st half really hurt.... had a bad feeling after that.

Have to give credit to the Saints too for that onside kick to start the 2nd half.... BALLSY... and they ran it well.

Manning looked out of sorts once the Saints went conservative with blitzing in the second half. New Orleans didn't get any sacks on him (that I recall) but they hit him on some passes, put him under duress and made him move his feet. The Patriots did similar things for years. I also remember the Colts being more run-heavy on their longest drive of the game. The Saints had them rattled.

Hartley deserves a lot of credit for keeping the Saints in striking distance. Not bad for a rookie. Brees and the offensive coordinators were also very patient. The Colts had been a team that kept every team in front of them on defense and the Saints never tried to cute or force the offense.

brees was great. the saints' defense did their plan as well as could be expected after peyton's first two drives.
