Yup, done. I thought it'd be a good idea to have a nice clean sheet to add to. I have Isiah's atrocities in the "stats" forum so it was time to take down the Walsh notes.

I assume Duhon will be official tonight. Zach trade? Eh, with that salary and questionmark it will take some discussion for anything there. If he is indeed outgoing it'll take what... 2 weeks maybe of discussions?

Marbury? Again, you would assume that's cut and dry: Either buy him out immediately - or - turn him loose on the court for one last season. No middle ground there. If middle ground/reduced role is wanted? Then buy him out 'cause it's not worth the head ache.

Isn't that nice? I like that line. I like it a lot.

Should we bother with a rumor section?

Such as....

Rumors and deals that fell through.

Tried to trade up in the 2008 draft to 2nd and 5th.
Tried to buy a late 1st round pick in the 2008 draft.
Tried to trade Zach Randolph to the Bucks on draft night.
Had talks with Baron Davis.
Declined to trade Zach Randholph to the Clippers 7/11/08.

????

So we agreed to sign Roberson on the 16th. 2 years, minimum salary.

Has this gone through yet though? Anyone know?

First Impressions always lead to your best impressions of someone.

I recall starting a Stat on Isiah Thomas untill ............ he made that trade for Marbury & Hardaway. Those of you members who was in the last forum (EZ) and the ESPN forum remember how I attacked Isiah Thomas for not being the right man for this Knick Job when he made that Marbury & Hardaway trade.
And the more I kept attacking Isiah Thomas he kept making more and more super dum decisions for this Knick organization.
Isiah great eye for young draft picks is not enough to be a President or G.M. of a team in the NBA.

I started a stat on Donnie Walsh and was going to stop when he hired coach D'Antoni, but I let it pass thinking Walsh already selected a G.M. inwhich the hiring of coach D'Antoni was the bait to get this mystery G.M. to sign.
When draft night came and no G.M. was signed and the Knicks selected their 4th SF with their first round pick as if the MAX MLE SF dont exist on their roster, that was enough to prove that Donnie Walsh was not the right man for this Knick Job.
I'm not saying that Walsh is not good at anything, there have to be something that he is good at consistently to keep a 20 year job in Indiana.
It's just that I have not found it yet in his 20 year resume.
However, this is New York! a bigger and larger enterprise than the Indiana Pacers could ever become. Plus the owner of the Pacers was wise enough to see that the organization needed a wise G.M. (Larry Bird) to help Donnie Walsh decision making.

My First Impression of the Walsh 2010 Plan left me questionable, the performance of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh have over 3/4 of the NBA teams Presidents in the league with this plan during the 2007 Finals

Quote:
April 2, 2008 - Hired as President of Basketball Operations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 18, 2008 - Fired Isiah Thomas as General Manager and Coach

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 18, 2008 - Re-assigned Isiah Thomas to scout European players.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 13, 2008 - Hired Mike D'Antoni as Head Coach

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 28, 2008 - Dave Hanners, Phil Ford, George Glymph let go to Charlotte.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 20, 2008 - Hired Dan D'Antoni, Phil Weber, Herb Williams as assistant Coaches.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 26, 2008 - Drafted F Danilo Gallinari #6 overall.

My First Impression of Walsh stopped on June 26, 2008.
My evaluation leads me to make the consumation of Walsh early as June 26, 2008.
Walsh is the wrong man for the Knicks Job...

It must be something that he has in his lawyer-esque skills to last 20 years or the owner was devoted to him like the Wolves do to McHale amidst his years of mishap, albeit Walsh has made better deals than McHale, his one bad move could be seen as Jonathon Bender that never panned out due to injury.

and Kiya, you have pinned Danilo as injury proned for his first 2-3 years in the nba.

Its been 5 months.... not even an entire offseason...

Do you agree that Donnie Walsh inherited a horrible team? If so, then how is it that he should have it turned around in 5 months and less than 1 full offseason...

Walsh gets about 18 months before I start to really second guess him. The one thing that he has done, which I like, is he is not going to continue the mistake of Isiah and rush to just dump everyone, ruin chemistry and not build a proper team, the proper way...

While it's only been 5 months I give him a D-

Why?

Duhon - pointless head scratching full MLE for two seasons. (already got nate, collins, crawford, marbury)
Roberson - absolutely pointless addition.
Balkman - traded for nothing - should have released malik instead.
Marbury - should already have been released.
Malik - should already have been released.
Zach - why on earth is he still here?

The only reason Walsh doesn't get a straight up F is because DAntoni is a decent coaching hire.

However, regardless of time line, Donnies offseason moves have been terrible. Pure and simple. So based on that - he gets a D-.

Can that grade improve? Sure....Zach being shipped out in the next two weeks brings it up to a C.

Starks, new or old every President or GM should have an active-plan for the start of each year.
The majority of trades and the change of each team in the NBA is during June, July, August, and September.
Now give your grade of Donnie Walsh offseason performance?
Here is a better way to evaluate Walsh performance:

Miami had a 15 win season, Seattle a 20 win, Memphis a 22 win, Clippers & Knicks a 23 win, Charlotte a 32, Chicago a 33, and Nets a 34 season.

How many of the above teams President and GM performance this offseason grades higher or lower than Donnie Walsh?
Will any of the above teams have a .500 team this season?
